Review your own VOD without watching every minute
Use a small set of decision points to identify repeatable mistakes, distinguish bad luck from bad choices and leave with one practice task.
A useful VOD review is not a replay of your frustration. It is a way to find a decision you can improve. Start with a complete match recording that includes your own audio and enough context before contact.
Select a manageable sample
Choose an opening death, a lost numbers advantage and a failed objective round. Watch the seconds before the result. Pausing only on the final missed bullet overlooks route choice, teammate spacing and missing information.
Reconstruct your available knowledge
Write down what you had actually seen or heard at the decision point. Then list a realistic alternative. Do not criticize yourself for failing to know an opponent's hidden position just because the replay reveals it later. Distinguish an information problem from a mechanical execution problem.
Convert the note into an exercise
Instead of “bad positioning,” write “I entered a second sightline before the first was cleared.” Practice isolating those angles in a custom route and check the same situation next match. Stop the review when you have one clear task. An hour of collecting unrelated errors can be less useful than ten minutes that changes a repeated action. Keep the clip and revisit it after several sessions to see whether the habit actually changed.
