VALORANT ranks explained: tiers, Act Rank and your next step
Understand the rank ladder, separate Act Rank from current rank, and choose a useful goal without confusing a badge with consistent performance.
VALORANT's visible ladder runs from Iron through Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Ascendant and Immortal to Radiant. Most ranks have three numbered divisions; Radiant does not. The badge describes your current competitive position, not every skill you possess.
Current rank and Act Rank answer different questions
Your current rank changes with competitive results. Act Rank records achievement across an Act and should not be read as today's matchmaking estimate. Someone with an impressive previous badge can still be adapting to a role, returning from a break or playing inconsistently. Avoid predicting an entire match from the loading screen.
Turn a division goal into a match goal
Choose one observable habit for your next three matches: stop before firing, remain tradeable on an entry, or save utility for a retake. Review the same habit afterward. A useful note is “I entered before my teammate could see the defender,” rather than “my lobby was impossible.”
Check the rules before planning a climb
Placement requirements, party restrictions and high-rank thresholds can change. Use the current client and Riot's Competitive FAQ instead of an old rank-distribution chart. A personal improvement target is not a promised rank or deadline.
